Job Description

Technical Operations are responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure and software solutions hosted in our global data centres, which deliver SG Digital’s SaaS solutions to customers worldwide 24x7. The Technical Operations Director is responsible for the global operation, ensuring operational effectiveness and efficiency, process design and adherence, platform serviceability, reliability, scalability and availability/uptime, and architectural enhancements. A skilled coach, you will have a Team of engineers and Managers located in multiple countries worldwide.  You will be expected to act with autonomy and drive, and to think globally to ensure alignment on projects, initiatives and ITIL process.  

Key Responsibilities:

?      Adherence and improvements to ITIL processes including incident, problem and change management.

?      People management, technical and professional development of the global Team to ensure Technical Operation’s skills and availability match the business requirements

?      Direct line management of a number of Managers in Europe and North America; dotted line management of Managers and Team Leaders in India

?      Proactive monitoring of the installed production estate, design and setting of alert thresholds and triggers, clear work instructions and subsequent action to resolve incidents, and ensure the highest levels of uptime and application availability 24x7

?      Reactive resolution of escalated incidents raised by SG Digital’s Operators and Customers

?      Problem resolution and Root Cause Analysis of production incidents impacting performance and availability

?      Building of new Infrastructure and deployment of software applications to new markets and opportunities, ensuring efficiency and continuous improvements in automation and build processes

?      Support, maintenance and technical refresh of the existing global production estate.

?      Vendor liaison for co-location data centres, hardware and software procurement and maintenance contracts.

?      Continuous improvement through specific initiatives and the reporting of progress against Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)

?      Participation in the Manager on Duty rota ‘out of hours’

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

?      Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related Technical discipline, and excellent written and verbal English language skills.

?      10 years’ experience in a technical environment, ideally in infrastructure and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) software for a global Digital Company operating 24x7

?      Excellent problem-solving methodology, and a ‘think beyond the fix’ attitude

?      Experience of monitoring and alerting architecture using Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, eLog and Jira

?      Good project and program management skills with an ability to oversee and inspect the details on multiple concurrent projects and initiatives and to provide clear status and next steps; who needs to do what by when?

?      Strong communication skills and able to articulate complex technical issues in clear and concise language

?      Good motivational skills and an ability to liaise and negotiate with global colleagues to gain agreement and ensure alignment.

?      Very strong organisational skills with the skills to prioritise a large number of competing tasks, and to track them to completion.

?      Good understanding of ITIL processes with a proven ability to implement operational improvements

?      Comfortable with ambiguity coupled with an ability to act autonomously and make decisions under pressure.
